maika'. i was born in the states of
filipino descent. i'm
21 years old. I am an
ENFJ.
i'm pursuing a bachelor's degree in healthcare management with a concentration in cybersecurity. i have experience in both medical and nursing settings. on the side, i'm learning a little bit of python. i also study japanese in my free time.
the
reason why i made this website is to have a space where i can input any thoughts and new information i've learned from my everyday life. i want to use this site like a "pokedex".
my
hobbies are cluttered and i tend to fixate on one thing at a time.
i don't play
video games as much as i used to, but my favorite gaming franchise is definitely the soulsborne series + elden ring. i do enjoy difficult/challenging games. as of now, i'm hooked on ffxiv and looking forward to the new monster hunter game. i also enjoy completing crossword puzzles, nonograms, and sudoku.
i do have an interest in
fashion. but my knowledge of creating fashion is so so limited, it's not even there; i'd love to get some hands on experience and learn more. i'm not a creative or artistic person, so i think i am better off watching or consuming it. i think my style is probably simple and comfortable. modern? dark? darkcore? i don't know, but i only ever really wear black or muted colors. there's so little color in my wardrobe it's scary. i've been experimenting different silhouettes and seeing how pieces shape my body. it's fun.
i love consuming
music sometimes. maybe a year or two ago, i think i had maybe 100k listening hours? crazy! i don't quite remember, but it was a very high number. some of the genres i have in my pocket are shoegaze, nu metal, screamo, industrial techno, ambient, hyper pop, classical, and occassional opera. what's really enjoyable is going to concerts and seeing amazing artists display their talents live. live music is awesome.
film (although i haven't been watching films lately...) is another enjoyable pasttime of mine. i usually indulge in films when there are no animes or my to do list is completely barren. i love watching experimental and psychological films with the occassional action. romance is fine too but it really has to hurt me for me to enjoy it (which probably isn't that hard to accomplish). my favorite film is probably Aloners (2021) directed by Hong Sung-eun and A Taxi Driver (2017) directed by Jang Hoon. i suggest you check it out, they're both amazing works.
reading is one of my favorite hobbies. i'm into reading dostoevsky, kafka, camus, sartre, etc. i'm into a lot of existential and philosophical works where you have to put your book down to reflect on it for a month or so. that is always fun to experience. but i'm also into nonfictions. i love reading about nature like animals and plants, self growth, and autobiographies. i also love reading manga. i often gravitate more towards seinen and josei works of any genre. reading gives me a world and a set of eyes to look at it from. you can meet so many people and experience so many events just through a book. it's fascinating and i love being able to feel whatever the author or narrator is feeling. i will probably share my thoughts, feelings, and new knowledge on a book i'm reading here on this site.
